OK - maybe I am getting a bit obsessed. Spend a wonderful Easter weekend with friends who had taken on 3 more chickens (bringing their total up to 5) from an owner who was moving house. These chickens were originally quite grumpy and not laying much having been kept in the small run most of the time. After only a month or so with Trish, they were plump and happy and laying madly every day.
The little flock was so attractive I got home and hit the internet looking for a local chicken supplier. I found one and phoned up and popped over that afternoon to collect two lovely new chickens. Amber (white) and Nutmeg (black) now complement my two ginger rangers Saffy and Patsy. Still not a big flock, but very gratifying.
