Well, we're nearly there. The living room floor is now installed and danish oil'd and looks marvelous. The sheen really brings out the honey colour of the oak boards, with all the natural grain and knots. We spent last weekend painted the walls a very pale parchment colour and glossing the skirting board (everything near floor level). This weekend we've glossed everything else in sight; windows and doors.
Furniture is back in and the room is usable although still a little barren.
The builders are still in residence, fitting out a storage cupboard on the landing upstairs and doing bits and pieces of finishing off - under chimney lights to light up the range, new window for the front of the kitchen, fit the extractor. Still, I have every confidence that after Monday they'll be done.
Phew.
They've been working on the house since mid September, with a break over Christmas, and I really look forward to getting it back
