This morning Steve got up to catch his bus at about 7:15am. The builders had been putting the finish on the floor, which has meant that we've been unable to use the front door to enter the house in the evening. This had amusing implications for Stephen's departure :)
With the living room floor having dried over night, he left by the front door as usual. The front door is actually a double-door with a porch. So, he left by the door from the living room and shut it behind him (it has a yale lock). He then went to open the big wooden door to get out, but this was still locked. The builders had varnished the living room floor and left by the front doors, locking both behind them. As we hadn't used the front door the previous evening, we'd not unlocked them.
Stephen found himself trapped in the porch between the outer and inner door.
We were surprised to receive a phone call at 7:15am from our son who was locked in the porch downstairs. Dave went down and let him out so he could catch his bus. Good thing his mobile phone works (most don't in the village).

This really tickled me. I could just imagine you hearing this faint cry for help from somewhere in the house if his phone hadn't worked. Posting his lunch through the letterbox...
