We decided to stop off at the Ickworth Rotunda on our way home. We had first visited this NT house in the 80s when we first became annual members of the National Trust. We all loved it. Quite a lot more was open. Clearly all those years of taking the kids as children around old houses, museums and castles is paying off. They really seem to enjoy them. When I was a child, my parents used to take me around visiting antiquities so I guess this is the sort of thing that is passed down from parents to children. Obviously some kids will never enjoy this sort of thing but I’m glad ours do. We look at the places and discuss how people must have lived there, what they probably did and how it would all work. Makes for a really good day out, especially when it's lovely and sunny.
We’d run out of bread so Dave was very hungry and we were eating lunch before noon in the lovely restaurant! Got back home to happy healthy chickens, despite a fox visit during one night (Thankful for good chicken sitter) and grumpy cat who never seems to appreciate his holidays at the cattery.
