Slight confusion today. We chose this holiday so that everybody could do what they wanted. Yesterday we were booking to go on the guided walk up the waterfalls - about an hour or so coach journey, a stiff climb up the falls for an hour or so, a 30 min walk along a high valley with the stream and then lunch at the summer hut that the locals live in during the summer months when the cattle are moved up to the high pastures. They double up as restaurants during the summer tourist season.
Well, Esther said that she didn't want to go so Dave said not to book her. However somehow Alan booked for 8. This morning, Steve said he was too tired to go having done quite alot yesterday so we sent him to cancel with Bo. He managed to get in just in time before Bo had submitted the booking to the computer system and cancelled his and Esther's places.
Meanwhile Stuart who hates walking had always been adamant that we did not want to go. By the time he'd got permission to cancel, we were just getting on the coach and Bo couldn't cancel his payment (22 euros). I think Alan thought he could kind of strong-arm Stuart into coming but, at 15, Stuart is in prime teenagerhood and refused point-blank to come. Learning curve for all I think.
Anyway, Rosie, Alan, Dave, Martin and I had a lovely time, although the hike up the falls was pretty strenuous. Lunch was lovely and we stopped off at a fabulous new hotel called the Alpine in the village where the Dutch go skiing and ate more apple strudel. We also discovered this delicacy called something like the Kaiserstorn which is broken up pancakes with raisins and either apple or berry puree. Yummee but very filling.
